EasyMagistrate was a booking system and CRM I built for volunteer magistrates in the UK judicial system. I built it entirely for free as volunteer work — I wanted to give back and help people doing important work.
The problem
Magistrates in the UK volunteer their time to visit schools and educate young people about the justice system — teaching them what happens when you break the law and helping steer them in the right direction. But they were still using pen and paper to coordinate who was visiting which school and when. It was a mess of spreadsheets and phone calls whenever someone needed to plan or volunteer for a school visit or other event.
What I built
A booking system and CRM that let magistrates:
- See which schools needed visits
- Sign up to volunteer for events
- Coordinate scheduling without the back-and-forth
What happened
The system worked well and gained traction with magistrates who were using it. Unfortunately, I had to shut it down because I wasn’t able to commit the time needed to manage and support it alongside my other work.
